Action Steps:   REHEARSE your delivery BEFORE making the formal presentation

  1. Determine: Do you know exactly what the problem is?
  2. Decide: Is it fixable?
  3. Ask: Is the process rolling too fast for the client?
  4. Assess: Will the team pull together and help rescue the project?
  5. Utilize: A devil’s advocate to test your assessments.
  6. Learn: What happened; how it occurred and the possible effects (extent)?
  7. Translate: Turn paper corrective action plans into urgent action (e.g., WBS, clear goals, timetables, resource and personnel assignments)
  8. Follow through: ‘Ride herd’.  Make sure the assignments are completed and promises are kept.
  9. Be inclusive: Attempt to take into consideration – all relevant stakeholders before making a recommendation.
  10. Listen: With openminded curiosity
